SPOILT FOR CHOICE: SUMMER 2024 CRUISING

With the arrival of Celebrity Edge, Disney Wonder and Virgin Voyage's Resilient Lady, Australia and New Zealand are being spoilt for choice like never before.

These three premium line ships are all headed for our shores for the very first time, and such is the interest from one of the World's largest cruising population per capita, that each have already bravely confirmed that they will all be returning for our Summer 2024/25 season.

These are three very different experiences, and they're each bringing something new to our market.

The first of Celebrity's Edge class ships has been extremely successful in it's Caribbean and European itineraries, that they have continued to build sister ships Ascent and Beyond in the same class. The popular Martini Bar with its daily flair show is central to the interior of this magnificent ship, and is surrounded by some classic Celebrity favourite restaurants and a few spectacular new ones that will leave you begging for more. The perfect example, being the interactive, immersive experience that is; Eden.

Some of your new favourite places on a cruise ship will be Edge's magnificent Garden Rooftop, and cantilevered Magic Carpet, by the resort pool and champagne flute spas.

Celebrity Edge is fantastic for couples, empty nesters, multi-generational families, and those who love beautiful food, and contemporary interior design (by well known designers Kelly Hoppen and Nate Burkus).

Disney Magic at Sea on the hand is a young family's paradise, with every wonderful Disney wish catered for, with photo ops with your favourite characters, Disney themed dining;

✨ Animator's Palate: Celebrate the art of storytelling, where Disney characters come to life before your eyes

✨ Tiana's Place: Meet Princess Tiana herself and experience live jazz, storytelling and southern charm and a menu infused with the flavours of New Orleans

✨ Triton's: Be immersed in the underwater kingdom of The Little Mermaid in this restaurant offering upscale dining “under the sea”

It's Broadway style shows, like the eternal favourite Frozen, and the ship decor and design, will have you think you're at the Disneyland theme parks, minus the rides. Be sure to bring your Mickey Ears and your Elsa costumes and immerse yourselves in the happiest place at sea !

At the other end of the scale, we have the adults only Virgin Voyages. This is Richard Branson's answer to turning the cruise industry upside down, and that it certainly does. With its own vocabulary; the ships and superyacht vessels, the passengers are Sailors, your onboard credit is called Ship Loot (or Bar Loot for the beers, wine, and cocktails onboard). The atmosphere onboard is relaxed by day and lively by night. Listen to chill tunes bought to you by the DJ as you munch on an afternoon poke bowl and sip on your salty Margarita by the pool. It's a great place to lay on the day beds or cool down while meeting an array of sailor guests from all walks of life around the world. Be sure to keep your new tattoo from the onboard tattoo parlour, Squid Ink, dry...

If I had two words to describe Virgin Voyages it would be unique and authentic.

As a cruise addict, I'd love to cruise all three this Summer, but if the Minister for Household Finance disagrees, or the Lotto tickets are not winners, I'm choosing Resilent Lady and Celebrity Edge - and I cannot wait to share my expereinces onboard each of those with you.

Thanks for reading. Let me know in the comments which ship (these or others) you're yet to experience but would love to.
